On Mason’s last night, Louisa had his friends over for dinner. “You know,” Louisa said to him while the others were chatting at the other end of the table, “I’ll understand if you want to stay in the States after you graduate high school.”
He shrugged, looking at both of his parents. “I’m not really sure yet, but I’ll think about it. One thing I do know is that I’d like to spend some time out here after I graduate, just to get to know this side of my background better. We’ll see what happens then.”
“I can’t wait,” Louisa said.
Mason smiled in agreement. “Neither can I.”
